Step into the ring

Pastor and author, Francis Chan, in his book Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God stated the following:

1God is the only being who is good, and the standards are set by Him. Because God hates sin, He has to punish those guilty of sin. Maybe that’s not an appealing standard. But to put it bluntly, when you get your own universe, you can make your own standards.”

God has set the standards by which we should live. He is God and I am not. And, as the saying goes, “Father knows best.”

As a Christian, I rely on the Bible, God’s Word, for guidance, instruction, equipping, inspiration, and strength in order to live out each day. After all, God is Truth and His Word [the Bible] is our training manual and guidebook for life. The Bible has been described as “Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.” This is true, but it is so much more than that. The Bible can also be viewed as a warrior’s field manual used to equip the warrior to fight the battles that occur in life. Therefore, since God has given us this manual, surely there must be instructions and answers regarding life, and especially how to prepare for and survive these wrestling matches.

Chapters 7-11 of this book are “application” chapters. This is a no-holds-barred argument for and defense of Christianity, using pro wrestling as the backdrop. My goal is to provide you with biblical grounding and life-applicable insight as we go through the “wrestling matches” that we [will] face in this life.

There will also be three application questions for you to think about at the end of each chapter in the “STEP INTO THE RING” section.

I also want to make clear that I cannot make you accept the biblical truths and insight [i.e. especially the gospel] that I will be sharing with you. That is not my job. 2 Timothy 2:7 (ESV) states, “Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” Furthermore, Jesus stated in John 6:65 (NIV), “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

My responsibility, according to the Great Commission, is to share with you the truth of God’s Word and what He’s done for you. It is only when the Holy Spirit enables you to accept these truths that this power will impact your life for all eternity.

I do pray that you will allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you and help you to discern how best to act and respond further as you continue reading through this material.
