Wrestling Theology Fellowship: Going into ALL the world with the gospel

Mark 16:15 states, “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” What I find powerfully convicting about this passage is that it is a mandate to GO INTO ALL the world and proclaim the gospel. The call of Jesus, the call of the gospel, is to go and penetrate EVERY area of life with the eternal life-giving message of the gospel. This means that, as Christian believers, we all will have our “Nineveh” where the Lord would have us go and proclaim the gospel in a way that only we can. In fact, where the Lord calls us to go,…

An eye for an eye: The real issue

Wrestling with my thoughts… Baltimore, “Charm City,” isn’t looking so charming this week. In fact, it’s looking downright ugly: Riots, looting, anger, violence, burning things down…destruction. Sure, the tragic death of an individual is painful and hard, whether the person is black, white, red, or yellow. And, justice does need to occur. Yet, “an eye for an eye” is never the answer — that only adds to the problem. So, what is the underlying issue in all of this? Many people continue to tout “race” as the issue. Interesting.  Usually people march and stand up FOR freedom, not AGAINST it (…head tilt). Let’s look at freedom.  According to the dictionary, some definitions of “Freedom” are: the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint; exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.; the power to determine action without restraint; personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery. Hmm. “Freedom” appears to be a really good thing; and, it is! But then there is the term “Boycott.” The definition of a “Boycott”…

A Christian, From Indiana, Easter, and [True] Freedom

Wrestling with my thoughts… Can I be completely transparent with you? As a Christian, from Indiana, my heart has been saddened by what I have heard and read this week in regards to religious freedom. Now, none of this should come as a surprise or a shock, as these things [according to God’s Word], are to be expected. God is still on His throne and in control of it all. Still… But to be honest, I truly have “wrestled with my thoughts,” feelings, and emotions, over and over, regarding how best to processes all of this. As we discuss and debate “freedoms” in our country, I am reminded that the…

    What is [really] “sustainable”?

Wrestling with my thoughts… According to the Guinness Book of World Records: “The longest professional wrestling match lasted 12 hours and was promoted by Shockwave Impact Wrestling (USA) as the Ultimate Iron Man Match at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Sidney, Ohio, USA, on 6 November 2010. The match was contested by American Kickboxer II aka Brandon Overholser, Dark Angel aka Mike White, DJ Tom Sharp aka Tom Crone, Logan Cross aka Logan Jones, Sid Fabulous aka Mark Easterday, and “Lightning” Tim Lutz. The match was won by Lutz to earn the SWI’s Ironman Championship. This Iron Man match consisted of the same six participants rotating for the duration of…
